Workshop on cooking national dishes of Russia for foreign students of KIU
The annual series of gastronomic workshops started at the Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov. The first workshop held this year was dedicated to the national Tatar dish - qistibi. This dish involves the preparation of thin pancakes using a special technology with various fillings.
Kazan Innovative University is one of the leading universities in training specialists in the field of catering technology. A few years ago, on the basis of KIU, the first national cuisine studio in Russia Studio of National Culinary named after Yunus Akhmetzyanov was opened. It is in this studio that classes are held for students of the Faculty of Hospitality and Design, as well as all gastronomic workshops and tastings.
Teachers of the Department of Technology and Organization of Public Catering Garipova Venera Maratovna and Rodnikova Liliya Fazylovna told and showed how to cook a traditional Tatar dish, a favorite in Tatarstan. The students, together with the teachers, prepared two variants of qistibi: with potatoes and with millet porridge.
For many students, this was the first experience of cooking a Tatar dish. They asked the teachers the questions they were interested in.
The workshop began with the presentation of the cooking technology of qistibi. Then each of the students was involved in the process. Students from all over the world worked as a cohesive team and therefore managed very quickly. The master class ended with a tea party with a national dish prepared by himself.
