The 9th May is a sacred date for every citizen of Russia and those countries that participated in the approaching victory over fascism in 1941-1945. As part of the celebration of Victory Day, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Kazan Innovative University several important events were held, as well as a solemn concert, the evening of which was filled with a special atmosphere - an atmosphere of memory, gratitude and pride for the feat of our people. Students of KIU and academic staff have prepared a soulful program that left no one indifferent.
Victory Day is not just a regular date. It is a symbol of courage, strength and boundless love for the Motherland. On this day, we bow our heads to those who gave their lives for a peaceful sky, and honor veterans whose feat will forever remain in our hearts.
Special words of gratitude were addressed to those who today continue the glorious traditions of the defenders of the Fatherland. We remember with deep respect our graduates and employees who are now defending the interests of the country on the fields of a special military operation. Their courage and dedication are a worthy continuation of the feat of the victorious generation.
The concert ended with the legendary song "Victory Day", which the audience sang standing up. At that moment, the connection between generations of veterans, their descendants and those who continue the glorious traditions of serving Russia today was especially felt.
For many years now, there has been a special event in Russia when the descendants of our defenders of the World War II make a pedestrian march with photos of their ancestors who participated in the World War II.
Under the rays of the spring sun, the participants of the event carefully carried portraits of their heroes — grandfathers and great-grandfathers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers who gave their strength and lives for the Great Victory. Every year, the ranks of the Immortal Regiment grow: veterans, children of war and their descendants are joined by young people, for whom the memory of the feat of their ancestors is sacred.
Like a river of memory, the column moved along a familiar route, bypassing the central streets of Kazan. This year, the march has acquired a special meaning — in the jubilee year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, thousands of Kazan citizens of different generations walked side by side, united by a common history and gratitude to those who gave them a peaceful sky.
The flags of Russia and the Victory Banner proudly flew above the columns, and frontline songs sounded in the air — the same ones that lifted the fighters into the attack, warmed them in the trenches and helped them believe in victory. The final point of the route was the Kazan Kremlin, where a large-scale festive concert was held. Songs of the war years performed by the best creative teams of the city sounded from the stage, and the audience, without restraining their emotions, sang along to familiar lines.
KIU’s international students from Latin America and China did not stay away from celebrating the important date.
Every year, KIU adheres to the important tradition of laying flowers at the eternal flame. Foreign students and all participants of the action honored the memory of the soldiers with a minute of silence.
KIU international students, who participated in this event for the first time, got acquainted with the songs of the Great Patriotic War and listened to an inspiring speech about the exploits of soldiers in Russian. For them, who came from different parts of the world, with different historical knowledge, it became an important event and a deep dive into the history of Russia.
At the end of the event, the students shared their impressions, asked each other questions, and tried to understand the historical significance of this event.
Laying flowers in Victory Park is an unforgettable experience that has helped international students learn more about our history and culture and strengthen respect for the memory of heroes who sacrificed their lives for peace.
